ABOUT ARTROOMS LONDRA – OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

Artrooms Londra 2019 takes place at the iconic Melia White House Hotel near Regents Park in London, from the 18th to the 20th Jenuary 2019. Over three days, we will host more than 100 artists from all over the world chosen by a prestigious selection committee.

Before filling the application, please read this carefully:

All media are welcome: paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, video art, new media and others

Exhibition Spaces

18/24 sq mtr hotel rooms. Artists are invited to transform the rooms into studios or gallery or create an installation and play with the space to highlight their work. You are allowed to do anything that is legal and non-permanent.

Hangings & Display
Rooms have spaces already prepared for hanging and several desks to display artworks.  The average size for paintings and photography is approx 100 x 150cm. Larger work can be displayed in the room but not hanged on walls. You cannot drill into the units. The Maintenance Team will help during the set up.
You are allowed to use as a display: desks, coffee tables, beds, bedside tables, sofas and all the room furniture. Just please be careful and protect the surfaces. If you need additional displays for sculptures, please consider to bring your own plinths.
Heavy or extra size works need to be approved by the organisers.
Each room has a TV than can be connected to a laptop or USB key. You can use it to show your videos or bring your own projector.

SELECTION

All applications are examined by the Organisers and by the Selection Committee which includes top experts in the Arts industry.
The list of successful applicants will be published on our website on the 14th September 2018.

To apply for any of the sections mentioned above, you need to register on this website and pay an application fee of £ 20.

RULES
  1. Artists must be free of any exclusive agreement with a gallery in U.K.
  2. Artists must attend the fair and be present during opening hours.
  3. All media and artists from all backgrounds are accepted.
  4. All works must be for sales. The Artrooms Fair will ask 30% commission on all sales.
  5. Limited Edition of a maximum number of 50 are accepted.
  6. When selected, the exhibition space is free of charge. All other expenses, such as travels, accommodation and shipment of the works are at the artist’s cost.
  7. Artists who have taken part to 2 editions in a row (in the same city), must wait one year before applying again. Still, they are allowed to apply to a different edition. i.e. if they took part in London they can only apply to Rome or any other edition and vice versa.

Shall you need financial support, please consider a crowdfunding campaign – we will be glad to support you and spread the word among our network.

BENEFITS

Rooms – 70 artists will be selected for this section. Each artist will benefit of a free of charge room to turn into an exhibition space.
Public Vote – One artist will be invited to the fair by winning the Public Vote.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Once you have paid the fee, you will be officially enrolled in Artrooms London 2019 Contest. You will be able to start your application from the 12th March 2018. We will ask information about yourself and your work, so have all materials ready!

The first field you need to complete is the “Project”. Please use this section to describe your exhibition layout, your installation, your site-specific proposal or the nature of the work you want us to evaluate. Please note that this information will be published on our website. This is the most important part of your application, so take your time and tell us all about it! Once you have done this, the rest is easy!

We will ask you a short biography, exhibition list and 3 images of your work. Please note: if you are working on a new project, you can upload images of previous works. Please make sure that your images have a resolution of 72dpi. Images should have a size between 600 – 1200 pixels.
