– salon creates nail art inspired by Artist Michelle Angela Jenkins-

13th March 2014, Dubai – UAE – Raffine Beauty Salon has collaborated with Dubai-based Canadian artist Michelle Angle Jenkins to mark the upcoming Art Dubai 2014. Recently launched in Sofitel The Palm Resort and Spa, Raffiné Beauty Salon will interpret Michelle Angela Jenkins work titled JOY, into nail art. Working closely with Michelle, Raffine’s nail artists have created artwork to celebrate the art season allowing art lovers an opportunity to wear art throughout March and April and view some of Michelle Angela Jenkins artwork at the salon.

A graduate from the University of Toronto’s Teachers College (OISE), Canadian Artist Michelle Angela Jenkins lives and works in Dubai. She has exhibited her works in over seven countries, including Dubai where she has showcased at several locations over the years. Art has been a focus and passion for Michelle throughout her studies and as an undergraduate at the University of Windsor, she had the opportunity to use different mediums such as metals and clay however painting with acrylic has proven to be her preferred medium. The collaboration with Raffine Beauty Salon is the first for Michelle – the translation of her artwork into nail art is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy her art.

“ This is an exciting project for me; I have never had an opportunity to work with nail artists. Unraveling the emotional of my creation onto this form of art piece is incredible. Working with the Raffine artist allowed me to understand the challenge of small space like the nail. The experience of inviting someone into the interpretation of my work was very personal. From your hand to my heart may we continue to connect our dreams and cultures through art” said Michelle Angela Jenkins.

“The Dubai art scene is thriving and as the Art Dubai is celebrated we wanted to bring this new age idea of interpreting art of artist into nail art. Our nail artist has been working closely with Michelle to ensure that every emotion and true passion is reflected on the final product. This is a great opportunity for art lovers to wear art and we are looking forward to welcoming them to Raffine” said Cheryl Vaughn, Director of Raffiné

Throughout March and April, visit Raffine Beauty Salon, Sofitel Palm Jumeirah, to view Michelle Angela Jenkins’ exhibition and have your own personal nail art done to celebrate Art Dubai. For booking call 044556636. Enjoy Raffine Beauty Salon.

Photo House “On a Journey”

Le Dame Art Gallery is proud to announce the first edition of its Photo House Photography Competition. We are excited about opening the doors to the most popular form of visual media, photography. The aim of this international competition is to extend our art gallery collection to include a brand new photography section. Having been scouting emerging artists over the past  four years, our Contemporary Art Gallery in London, wishes to offer all talented photographers the chance to show their unique vision of communicating ways of seeing the world. The Photo House Photography Competition gives all participants the opportunity to have their work judged by a jury of experts; win prizes and be included in the London exhibition. The first 15 pictures shortlisted by the jurors will be showcased in our London gallery from the 1st of November to the 2nd of December 2017. “A photograph is worth a 1000 words” as we know, and we believe Photography is Fine Art. Be part of this competition and share your vision. It will be a great honor to include your contribution.

‘On a journey’ is the theme for the PHOTO HOUSE 2017.

Once in a lifetime, we have all embarked on a journey, an exotic trip or holiday. An adventurous expedition, as a necessity, a means of escape or the only way out. There is also our daily commute alone, in a car, or on a crowded train. Travelling is the dimension of movement triggered by the unstoppable search for something new, or unusual. It also represents self-exploration of our inner thoughts and hopes, which may be faced with both excitement and fear. Photographers are invited to capture the emotions which go beyond the immediate experience of travelling, to include the diverse worlds which conflict and coexist simultaneously in modern life. All visual interpretations of these concepts are welcomed. Documentary and conceptual, as well as storytelling and abstract.

The Competition is curated by Lichena Bertinato and organised by the Board. Images will be selected by the Judging Panel.

15 artists will be selected to be part of the Photo House Collective Exhibition at Le Dame Art Gallery. Read more…

From the Artrooms Fair to Le Dame Art Gallery

American artist Brian Huber and the elegance of natural patterns

Le Dame Art Gallery is delighted to present American artist Brian Huber in his first UK Solo Show. Brian’s work is based on the abstraction of landscapes, architectural elements and the impact of man on the natural world. Raised in New Orleans, Brian was influenced not only by an unconstrained culture and the rhythmic motions of blues and jazz, but also an environment where hurricanes could change or destroy everything in minutes.

Brian transforms landscapes and man made forms into something new.  His pieces represent physical changes on a grand scale —anything from the construction of a beautiful building to the devastation of a man-made disaster.

Brian cuts and manipulates giant sheets of acrylic paint to create the distinctively sculptural texture of his pieces. The constant change of light and shadow alters the color and pattern of his creations, breathing life into them.

The show will present the Braided and Circle Back series investigating the way we consume reality, playing with light and shadow on wrought ironwork found throughout New Orleans. An abstracted interpretation of the braided rivers and glacial moraines of the Denali Alaska landscape is the focus of Braided.

In January 2017, Brian was among the 70 artists selected for the Artrooms Fair, gaining recognition among collectors and galleries. He recently was shown at the Los Angeles Art Fair and the Palm Springs Art Fair and has an upcoming solo shows in San Miguel de Allende Mexico and Mexico City.

Le Dame Art Gallery is proud to invite London’s art lovers to discover the ultimate elegance of Brian’s works.

The exhibition will run until the 3rd of June 2017.
