I am a 37 years young Romanian woman and currently I live in Austria. I have a degree in „Management of the European Institutions" from a prestigious University in Romania. Immediately after finishing my studies, I started building a banking career (which lasted more than ten years) in several local and foreign banks as an Executive Director. Soon after ending my banking career, a soul search was needed. With this process (of soul searching) new opportunities have arisen and I have found the courage to follow that one thing that energized me the most. This is how I've discovered that photography makes me happier than anything else. In following my inner voice and natural born talent for aesthetics, architecture, design, and photography, I started experimenting with various exposure techniques.
During the last two years of my life, I have worked on this project. I call it generally „Lichtbilder" because technically, photography is a „light catching" process. I create my works mostly in my mind and then I use the Leica camera as my brush. Therefore, sometimes my photos leave the impression of being painted. This is a new technique, I have developed.
I photograph various things, also spontaneously (when recognizing the right light staging). In doing so, I am able to capture the light beyond the moment, not just a snapshot. I bring to life graphically different moods/themes in my photos, from friendly-bright to mystical-dark, and no Photoshop construction is present in my project. The image manipulation is held to minimal and it consists mainly of light/tone and color correction.
Because I am so passionate about light, energy and good vibes, the newest project I am working at is a collection of art lamps. Basically, a small selection of my „Lichtbilder" is going to be presented in form of modern see-through objects (normally sized lamps, nothing too big). If I get selected, my room layout would definitely include some of my most interesting works.
What makes my day, is to be able to awaken the imagination of the viewers, making them ask questions, making them dream..eyes wide open...
We live in a beautiful, but very practical and agitated world (politically, economically, humanly, etc), where sometimes it is hard to breathe, live in the present or take a moment for ourselves. I want to help and restore that..and this is the only way I know how: by presenting my inner world through the lens.
Every time, I do my best to integrate my life's philosophy into my work:
...LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE!
