I am a fine art photographer based in Vancouver, Canada. I grew up in Pinawa, Manitoba, and attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. I lived and worked in Singapore for 11 years before returning to Canada in 2014.
I have had a keen interest in photography since childhood, initially exploring my world with a 35mm Olympus point-and-shoot camera. Largely self-taught, I have developed my favoured motion-based technique through years of experimentation and endless hours of shooting. Surrounded by a world of ever-changing subject matter and light conditions, I am inspired by the endless possibilities of photographic exploration.
My work focuses on experimentation with motion and blurring to create images that combine abstract and figurative elements. Fusing light, colour, texture and movement, I strive to produce photographic compositions that spark emotions and stimulate the imagination.
I view every photo as a glimpse into a moment, a scene and a world where life is happening. I often write a snippet of narrative to accompany each photo to share my vision of the story and possibilities behind it. Presented without a broader context, these pairings of image and narrative invite viewers to pick up these threads and continue the story in whatever direction their imagination takes them.
