Biography

Cecile is a young emergent artist born and based in France.
She was born in 1995 in Normandy.
Graduate of an Art Academy in France, she is a workaholic when it comes to photography and video and also to creation of stories and exploration of unusual ways of showing reality as well as dreams.
Since 2015, she developed a singular relationship with the French Land Forces, with the will to highlight the people who work in the shadow and the desire to show the artistic and open-minded dimension of this institution. With them, she has organized two one-of-a-kind personal exhibitions in 2015 and 2016.
Since then, she exposed new works on several group exhibitions. She's now working on subjects like environment problematics, connection between humans and animals, transition from childhood to adulthood...
Art is the path to man in his weakness as well as his strength, showing his body as well as his soul.
Art has to be a permanent fight for truth. One of her aims is to try to open everybody's eyes, wherever they are, whatever they do, on the artistic dimension they can find in their lives and in the people they meet.

Project

My exhibition project for Artrooms London 2019 is composed of works from the "Ars Militaria" project and the "MatparArtistes" project, both led within the French Land Forces basements.
I wish to create a singular atmosphere, where the visitor will see the military world on a different eye.
There will be photographs from my "Jellyfish" serie: strange, mystical, almost magic pictures of parachutes looking like a rare species: a specimen which we observe under all its sewings and which we could find in a cabinet of curiosities. Disconnected from their environment, these sails seem to be jellyfish or other creatures of the sea. This loss of marks wants to show the interest of the variability of the object in its shape, and by this way, its very suggestive power.
There will also be photographs from my "Mano a Mano" serie, a work focusing on parachute riggers and repairers, men and women who hold the lives of other men and women in their hands...
These series will be surrounded by other strong single images of the projects, like helicopter ones.
In this exhibition, it will be sound but a sound which is not necessarily in touch with the images.
To make these exhibition complete and immersive, there will be some installations, adapted to the hotel room concept : a photograph printed on a real white parachute, suspended to transform the bed into a canopy bed, a bedspread made of bullets (empty ones of course!), flowers made of different parachute and munitions materials on the desk... everything to turn this exhibition into a real journey inside my artistic universe.
