BEAT – Borough of Ealing Art Trail 2017
In September 2015 a number of like-minded artists from several local Ealing-based art groups met to form the origins of BEAT. The plan was to create a local platform for local artists to showcase their work to the public through the medium of an annual Art Trail. After establishing a steering committee to run BEAT, they launched their first ever event in September 2016.
BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail) is a not-for-profit organisation, run by artists for artists, with an elected committee responsible for the administration, development and promotion of BEAT and its activities. It is funded from membership fees; advertisements in the event brochure; and sponsorship.
It is not affiliated to any one art group or political organisation within the Borough of Ealing and will always aim to be a voluntary organisation run by its members. BEAT offers a window into the world of local artists and encourages their passion for creating and will provide an exciting opportunity to broaden the artistic experience, not only for the general public and local community, but also for those taking part.
BEAT’S aims are to hold an annual event, enabling members to sell and promote their work; to build up links between artists and the community to encourage mutual mentoring amongst members; to develop a local artist community network, open to all; to reach thousands of people in Ealing and beyond as potential visitors to our event; to identify and promote the Borough of Ealing as a creative and artistic centre and to complement the other cultural, arts and enterprise activities already established in the Borough’s calendar.
On its second edition this year, BEAT will have 160 artists opening their studios over two weekends this September – among them, Artrooms 2018 applicant Stella Tooth, who can be seen in her home studio at venue 19 on Sunday the 10th, Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th from 11am-6pm and Friday the 15th from 4pm-8pm with examples of her portraiture and her performing art.
